This week I got my new greenie! Her name is Sister Thompson and she's awesome! She's full of greenie fire and a desire to work hard and set this area on fire :) We're having a great time, we get along really well which is awesome. I'm pretty sure they gave me the best companion to ease me into training. :)
So this week we have been doing A LOT of unplanned service, which is awesome :) I've done more yard work in the last couple of weeks than I have my whole mission! It's really cool though because it grew my testimony of contacting potentials. :) So the story is, a couple of weeks ago we were going through our area book and contacting people and nobody would listen to us. We contacted this one potential, Joseline and she said she was too busy, but we told her that if she ever needed anything that we would love to do service. So last week she called us up and wanted us to come and help her in her yard/jungle. So we did and it was really cool because she was asking quite a few questions about what makes our church different, so we'll have to go back and see how she's doing soon :) Then there was another family who some elders found who were moving, so they helped them move out of their house and then called us up and we helped them move into their new apartment. They were crying because they were so happy! The husband has a lot of family members who are Mormon in Utah, so hopefully there will be some potential there :)
We really saw God's hand in our lives this week :) Almost every day I kept thinking to myself that there was no way that we were going to reach our goals that day, but then in the last 15 minutes of the day God would lead us to exactly where we needed to be in order to accomplish all that he wants us to do. Just the other night I felt like we should go and see an certain potential, and she wasn't home but we ran into a guy on the same street who turned out to be a less active who had been looking for the church in the area because his dad, who is active in the church, was coming to stay with him. So we gave him our card with our number and the church address and then he asked if he could have a book of Mormon as well! It's so neat to see how God's hand is always in the work.
This week while I was reading the book of Mormon, it really stuck out to me how God can only bless us as much as the faith that we are willing to exercise. I've really been studying about faith and conversion lately, and it struck me that the book of Mormon talks so much about faith from the very beginning. It says that Lehi only received his visions and revelations because of the faith that he had in Christ. I also thought about how absolutely everything is centered around the Savior. God's plan wouldn't have worked if it wasn't for the atonement of Jesus Christ. I was reading in this last General Conference the talk "Stay by the tree" by Elder Kevin W. Pearson, and he talks about how the tree of life is the love of God, which is Jesus Christ. It was really awesome to think of it that way, that our whole goal in life is to hold to the rod (the word of God) and work our way towards the tree of life (becoming like Jesus Christ).
Moroni 10: 32-33
32 Yeah, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.
33 And again, if ye by the grace of God are perfect in Christ, and deny not his power, then are ye sanctified in Christ by the grace of God, through the shedding of the blood of Christ, which is in the covenant of the Father unto the remission of your sins, that ye become holy, without spot.
So that's what I've been learning about this week :) I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week! Be safe! Follow the prophet! Love you!
Love,
Sister Lesser
Mom:
Hi mom!
I'm doing good. I'm not an STL this transfer because I'm a trainer. Being a trainer isn't as hard as I thought it would be, but I think that's because I have a stellar greenie :) haha. I don't know if I'm going to be able to miss a week of college. I guess it depends on what classes I'm taking, but I'd prefer not to. I'm still praying trying to figure out where God wants me to go. I'm probably going to apply to the BYU's just in case. It would be the smartest to go to Dixie probably, but I just don't know how I feel about it. We have church here from 11-2 as well. We'll probably call around 5 pm. I think I'm going to try facetiming this time and see if that works better than Skype. What is your facetime name? Love you! Thanks for the shampoo and conditioner. I really needed it!
Mandee:
Good luck in life guard training, you will do great :) just have fun and be friends with everyone. And pay attention. That's important. It sounds like you've been having a fun time :) That's good! How is your personal progress going? I've started over and I'm going to do it all again :) I never really realized how important it was and how much you learn from doing it, you should make sure that you make it a priority :) Love you! Have a great week! Congrats on making productions!
Grandma Bowcutt:
I'm glad that you and Grandpa are both staying busy down in St. George! I didn't know that you did embroidery, that's cool! you'll have to teach me one day :) I'm glad that the house is getting fixed up and that Grandpa was able to get in to get his leg fixed so soon. I'll keep him in my prayers :) Love you both, have a great week!
